A Note From Our Principal~

Dear Lakewood Christian Schools Community,

One of the greatest joys I have in leading our school is catching up with our graduates and hearing their stories of how LCS has impacted their lives. I had one of those conversations last month with Natalie who is currently an engineering major in her sophomore year of college. She was telling me about her summer engineering internship and how the academic and leadership experience she had at LCS allowed her to understand and manage her team well. I was moved by how she connected her foundation at LCS to her collegiate success. That is our goal for each and every student.

Recently I have been getting emails from Anthony, who wants to help plan the LCS reunion this year for those graduating from high school. These stories remind me that LCS is a place where we aim for academic, spiritual, and social excellence; but it is also a family with lasting relationships with young people who impact our communities.

I am thankful to have been a part of the LCS family for thirty-five years now. I remember the people who had a vision to start our school. I have seen the sacrifices families have made to give their children an outstanding education in a nurturing environment, and I admire our teachers’ passion for reaching each child academically and spiritually. LCS is so much more than little ones in class learning each day.

Our school’s rich legacy drives me to ensure its healthy future. Today, I am asking that you would partner with us in this endeavor. I would like you to be a part of the legacy we are building for our future, both long term and immediate through the LCS Foundation.

Our immediate needs are as follows:

  • An Assistant Principal With enrollment down, we did not replace Miss Norton when she moved back home. Our school needs two administrators to ensure the inner workings of our school function well.
  • A Special Education Teacher We are seeing more students struggle with learning issues such as dyslexia, ADD/ADHD, and mild autism spectrum issues. We need a teacher to allow these students to unlock their hidden potential for achievement and partner with our teachers for academic success.

Our long-term goals include the following:

  • A fund to keep our outstanding teachers and recruit the best available as we grow.
  • A fund to allow us to build and strengthen our current academic, robotics, athletics, and arts programs.

It is a really exciting time to be a part of Lakewood Christian Schools. We are seeing a second generation of LCS students as our graduates are sending their own children to school here, and eight of our eighteen classroom teachers attended LCS as children! What a testimony to our rich heritage. We have students thriving not only here each day, but in their high schools and colleges, and we are working each day to make our school better and better through accreditation, professional development, and self-study. So, I am asking that you become an LCS Foundation supporter to ensure a healthy and long future. Your gift will help the school grow, flourish, and make an even greater impact on our community.

I am confident of God’s hand on our school. I know that He will sustain this ministry through people like you, and that He will use it to impact and transform lives, just as He always has.

I thank you in advance for your prayers and for your support.

Most sincerely,
Brenda Barton K-8 Principal
